1. What is The Folio Society?

The Folio Society is Britain's largest and most respected publisher of fine editions. Each of our books is specially selected for its literary importance and quality. We have been publishing high quality books since 1947.

2. What makes a Folio book so special?

We only choose books of high literary merit. We publish books in a high quality binding, with beautiful illustrations from some of Britain's best designers and illustrators. We place all of them in a presentation slip case. We publish our books to last forever, making them highly sought-after.

3. Is there a fee for joining The Folio Society?

There is no extra charge for joining The Folio Society. All we ask is that you purchase the number of books that you agreed to when you accepted your joining offer

4. How do I become a full member?

Select a Joining Offer from the many on display on our Joining Offers page. When you receive your first parcel, and if you decide to keep it, we ask you to purchase four full-priced books within the first four weeks. Once your fourth book purchase has been confirmed, you're a full member of The Folio Society.

5. How many books does Folio publish?

The Folio Society publishes about 100 books a year. We have nearly 1000 titles available in our warehouse. Because of the unique way that Folio works, we do not often re-publish books. When our books are gone, they become very collectable.

6. What are the benefits of being a full member?

Full members can purchase our latest books at a greatly reduced price. They can also take advantage of special sales and exclusive offers on unique books that cannot be bought in any High Street or Main Street bookseller.

7. Does Folio sell their books in any other shop or website?

No. The Folio Society only sells directly to its members. Only we can offer our members the very best prices for our unique books.

8. Why do I need to agree to purchase more books?

We can only promote our unique books by assuring our suppliers that there is a significant number of booklovers who will purchase our products. There is no 'Book of the Month' or 'Editor's Choice'. We will never send you a book that you have not ordered.

9. How long will I be a member?

Once you have purchased your four full-priced books, you are a full member until the end of the membership year on 31 August 2009. After that date, we will ask you to join us again for another year. When you join us, you will get one of our specially selected presentation volumes, a collectable book of high quality and value, as a free gift.

You are under no obligation to renew your membership, but we hope that you will find something that inspires you to take up our unique offer.

10. Will you send me any books that I haven't ordered?

We will never send you a book that you have not specifically asked for. We do not offer a 'Book of the Month' or an 'Editor's Choice'. We will send you offers for high quality publishing at an affordable price. As a full member, you can choose to take advantage of these offers, or not, as you like.

11. How many books do I have to order to become a full member?

After you receive your Joining Offer, we ask you to purchase four full-priced books within four weeks. You can choose from the catalogue that we send with your Joining Offer, or you can refer to the website.

12. How long will it take for my Joining Offer to arrive?

As our books are larger and heavier than normal books, we try to keep postage and handling costs to a minimum by using a delivery service that ensures books are delivered in perfect condition, but takes longer to deliver. Please allow 21 days for delivery.

13. What if I decide not to join The Folio Society after ordering my Joining Offer?

If you decide not to join The Folio Society, just return your Joining Offer to us within 10 days of receiving it and you will receive a full refund. You can still keep your free gift whether you decide to stay with us or not.
